Tag each wrong answer by cause. The count matters less than noticing that four of your six mistakes were the same mistake.
Timings are the live Section A format: 42 questions across 12 passages in 95 minutes. The percentile is your position in Oxford’s published 2025 applicant pool, which scores above the national average, so treat it as the harder of the two comparisons. Nothing is stored.
Are there LNAT past papers?
Searchers often call the official downloads “LNAT past papers”, but the Consortium publishes sample practice tests, not a new archive of live papers from every sitting. The official page provides two paper-based tests, a marking scheme and selected commentary. Those papers are the closest free benchmark available, so preserve one for a realistic timed sitting near the end of your preparation.
Do not repeatedly retake the same paper for a score. Once you remember the passages or answers, the result no longer measures LNAT performance. Reuse it only to inspect reasoning, timing and the traps you missed.
How to use the official papers
- Use paper one as a baseline. Sit it under the real 95-minute Section A limit before studying strategies. Record your score, unanswered questions and time spent on each passage.
- Review every option. For each question, write one sentence explaining why the correct answer follows from the passage and why each attractive wrong answer fails.
- Group errors by cause. Useful categories include missed qualification, unsupported inference, reversed viewpoint, vocabulary in context and rushed reading.
- Save paper two. Use it after targeted practice as a fresh timed check. The change in score matters less than whether your repeated error categories have narrowed.
Free Section A practice between mocks
You can train the underlying skills without pretending that every reading-comprehension question is an exact LNAT replica. Read one serious opinion or analysis article each day and identify the conclusion, supporting reasons, assumptions, counterargument and the force of qualifying words such as “usually”, “may” and “only”. Then summarise the author’s position in two sentences without adding your own view.
The official LNAT site itself suggests LSAT material for additional practice because some of the same reasoning skills are involved. Use it for argument analysis, not for predicting your LNAT score. US LSAT material follows a different test specification.
Free Section B essay practice
The Consortium provides sample prompts and selected answers. A useful free routine has three levels: ten-minute plans, twenty-minute introductions plus one body paragraph, and complete 40-minute essays. Planning several prompts is often more valuable than writing every response in full because it teaches you to form a position quickly.

How to judge a free question bank
- Check the current format. Real Section A has 42 questions across 12 passages and four answer options per question.
- Look for answer explanations. A bare answer key cannot show whether your reasoning was sound or your correct answer was a guess.
- Check passage quality. LNAT passages are arguments, not simple fact-retrieval texts. Questions should test inference, purpose, tone and the structure of reasoning.
- Avoid false score conversions. A small unofficial set cannot reliably predict an offer or a percentile.

Is the official LNAT practice test free?
Yes. The online simulation, two downloadable practice papers, marking scheme, selected commentary and sample essay material are available free on the LNAT Consortium website.
Can I prepare for the LNAT without paying?
Yes. Official material is sufficient to learn the format and begin serious practice. Paid material becomes useful mainly when you need more fresh questions, structured progress tracking or individual essay feedback.
How many free practice tests are enough?
Quality of review matters more than the number of papers. Two carefully reviewed official tests can teach more than a large unofficial bank completed without analysing mistakes.
